A cache of jewels.

A cache of jewels to rival the jewel-encrusted dagger of Istanbul’s Topkapi Museum is what I have for you today. Sparkling, twinkling in all their coloured glory, gemstones cut and polished, and gemstones uncut and seemingly lit from within. Precious stones of such translucent splendour are surely best shared so I have invited dear Esti (Píntame el día) from Bilbao, Spain to join us.

Gathered here a visual response to A Cache of Jewels from Esti, Elaine, Louise and me.

  1. this post reminds me of an old loony tunes cartoon. i think it was with daffy duck and he found a cave of jewels and swam around in it. but then i think he got really greedy and something bad happened. i can't remember what.
i'd love to take bath of jewels myself. then i'd be happy to return them all. just a few minute soak would be enough. :)

  4. The cat looks star-struck, probably from all the gorgeous paintings you've got there!

  8. that last image with the jewels in the living room is such great social satire. its like the elephant in the room is now jewels, and no people, just the ideas of what shimmers.

my imagination looks at Louise's work and thinks one could live inside her watercolors, those colors, and the sense of rooms, floating. These are all great, such talent. Esti, these are forlorn in some way, more than usual, too.

love the market photos too, the writing and of course, great cheeses.

  9. The idea of having a collective noun project, and the choice of nouns, and the artists' work - these all amaze and inspire me.
    Thank you.
